Waste-to-fuel technologies for the bioconversion of carrot discards into biobutanol

چکیده
Carrot discard was evaluated as a raw material for acetone-butanol-ethanol (ABE) fermentation. Different strategies based on hydrothermal pretreatment and/or enzymatic hydrolysis were compared biobutanol production from carrot pulp. In addition, the use of different types enzymes and diverse enzyme mixtures evaluated. this way, total sugar recoveries up to 76%, butanol ABE concentrations 7.4 11.5 g/L, respectively (74 g 115 ABE/kg pulp), achieved when pulp enzymatically hydrolyzed, without pretreatment, using mixture Cellic CTec2 Viscozyme L at dosage 0.1 0.2 g/g, respectively. When applied, recovery 88%, 6.9 g/L 10.1 (69 101 pulp) attained same enzymes. no would be necessary produce discard, which is very interesting profitability process. Furthermore, juice yielded 6.4 9 ABE, respectively, showing that all discards could used production.

Production of bioethanol from carrot discards.
A revalorization of discarded carrots as substrate for the production of second-generation ethanol is proposed. In order to increase the fermentable sugar concentration of the musts two strategies were studied: Strategy 1 consisted in the enzymatic hydrolysis of bagasse must and Strategy 2 by which carrots were milled, dropped into distilled water and hydrolyzed with different enzymes prior to ...

Waste Low density polyethylenes (LDPE) represent a source of energy and valuablechemicals, were pyrolysed catalytically in a batch reactor under atmospheric pressure. Calciumcarbide was used as a catalyst to explore its effect on pyrolysis product distribution. The effect oftemperature, amount of catalyst and time on the yields of the pyrolysed products wasinvestigated. The effect of catalyst o...
متن کاملEnsilage and bioconversion of grape pomace into fuel ethanol.
Two types of grape pomace were ensiled with eight strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB). Both fresh grape pomace (FrGP) and fermented grape pomace (FeGP) were preserved through alcoholic fermentation but not malolactic conversion. Water leaching prior to storage was used to reduce water-soluble carbohydrates and ethanol from FrGP and FeGP, respectively, to increase malolactic conversion. Leache...
